Man Slays Wife and Himself in Trailer Tragedy

Justice of the Peace Charles Carder ruled murder and suicide in a double tragedy. Mrs Trimble lay on the bed with a gunshot wound to the chest and arm while Mr Trimble died from a wound behind the ear. A .22 pistol was found near his leg as their two daughters, Ginger 9 and Beverly 5, discovered the scene. The couple had lived at Carter Trailer Camp and recently moved from Snyder. Funeral arrangements are pending at Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home.

Rail Fuss Puts Heat on Truman

Washington reports that President Truman faced a surprise nationwide railroad strike call by unions for Monday after assurances from both unions and management that no walkout would occur. GI Allowance Voted in House

The House approved a bill granting enlisted families monthly living allowances of 70 to 125 dollars with portions deducted from the service member’s pay. The Senate already passed a similar measure. A conference committee will reconcile differences before final passage. The Armed Services Committee noted Army Navy and Air Force strength at about 2.5 million and proposed drafting 4600 to 5000 doctors trained in World War II who never served.

Urge Confirmation of General Smith

The Senate Armed Services Committee unanimously recommended prompt confirmation of Lt. Gen. Walter Bedell Smith as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The Amarillo area expects fair warm conditions with partly cloudy skies Friday. Scattered thundershowers may occur Friday night with cooler air, highs near 93 today and 90 tomorrow. Panhandle and South Plains may see a few showers tonight or Friday, with a slight cool down in the Panhandle. Old West Gunplay Near Stinnett Draws Deputy in Pursuit

In Stinnett near the Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Co offices, Deputy Buck Griffin and fire chief J B Rhea confronted burglary suspect Joe A. Warren of Amarillo at 4:15 am. Warren, armed with a double barrel shotgun, was knocked off balance and then surrendered after Griffin drew his pistol. A second suspect, Bill Pate, 25, of Amarillo, already arrested later, was held for Hutchinson County. The incident injured a deputy with a broken foot.

Boy Clings to Life After Father Bores Holes in Chest

Danbury Connecticut August twenty four. Four and a half year old Joey Korczynski lies critically ill at Danbury Hospital after his father Joseph Korczynski Sr. admitted drilling two chest holes with a drill press. A preliminary hearing ordered him held without bail as police report additional chest wounds and a possible back entry. The boy’s sister Joan alerted authorities and the incident occurred at a Fox Hill Inn garage in Ridgefield.
