A reception committee including John McCormack and General O'Duffy greeted him aboard, and he rode in a motorcar past cheering crowds to the Gresham hotel. He met with President Cosgrave and cabinet ministers, attended a Tailteann banquet, and plans to present prizes at the games. He hoped for quiet, but said he would be glad when the hero worship ends and returns to England.
