Police cite dynamite or gas as possible causes with fire department leaning toward gas. no bodies found after search. Two merchants unconnected to the blast and a recently rented store tied to Italian occupants are reported missing. Police investigate bootleg liquor involvement in a third shop.
Lee Junior was indicted for the murder of Irving Odell in a case tied to a Sunday night death. The grand jury returned a single indictment, with a preliminary hearing postponed. attorneys say bailability may be sought and habeas corpus could be pursued. Junior has been jailed since soon after the homicide.
Five jurors were selected at noon with seven more expected this afternoon in the Archie Parker murder case. Parker is charged in the July 19 Roxana slaying of Charles Blair. Jurors named include Clifford Wasson H Bilbrey Byron Hodes A G Grip and Leo F Detten.

Nine year old Dorothy Reese living seven miles north of Akron had crossed eyes since birth. A pony kicked her in the head while she tried to reach her petal, causing a blow that corrected the eye condition according to physicians. The animal struck with both feet but caused no serious injury.
In Minneapolis on August 24, George von Elm defeats Jobo McKinlay Jr. 3 and 2 and advances to meet Bobby Jones who beat J M McCarthy. Other results include Lege over Knepper 3 and 2, Mackenzie over Thomas in 19 holes, Martin over Walton 4 and 4, Ouimet over Sixty 6 and 6, and several more tight victories advancing multiple players to the next round.
Amarillo Bivina Flying club schedules an important meeting at 40 oclock Thursday night at the American Legion. All members are urged to attend. Mrs M J Carson of Clovis is spending the week in Amarillo visiting at the home of her cousins Mr and Mrs N S Grigia 1601 Taylor Street.
Oklahoma City August 24 The capital swirled as Gov Henry Johnston said a bribe was offered to obtain a pardon for O L Lacy an oilman jailed for murder. He denied the pardon and stated friends of Lacy offered money though he did not name a source.
A submarine disturbance off Ambrose lightship rocked the French liner France as she neared New York harbor. The vessel rolled like a cradle for three minutes, alarming passengers and stirring excitement aboard the ship.
The Panhandle Old Cowpunchers meet at Canyon with Col. Charles Goodnight attending for the first time. Baird Park hosts campfires this evening and tomorrow as veterans and families gather for informal talks and a barbecue. Attendance aims for at least 250.
