Mexican man shot to death in courthouse area

Thomas Martinez, 28, living south of the Santa Fe shops, was shot in the head Sunday afternoon at his home by a companion, Valentin Cortez, 26. Cortez, captured after a three mile chase, is jailed on murder charges and will face a grand jury session today. A second Mexican man with Martinez was grazed. Funeral services were held for Martinez at the Mexican church. The grand jury and courts resumed sessions after summer recess with limited juror availability.
