Burgess Holland suffered minor injuries when the truck he drove overturned about 19 miles west of Panhandle. He attempted to regain the pavement after the wheels slipped off the edge and the vehicle turned sharply. A passing motorist took him to Northwest Texas Hospital where attendants said injuries are not serious.
The State Pardon Board refused to intervene and halt the deaths of three inmates scheduled for execution at Huntsville. Colian H. Morgan of El Paso and Jesse Polanco and Carlos Fernandez of San Antonio are set to die in the electric chair after midnight unless Gov. Allred grants clemency.
