A long-running pageant in the Amarillo area wraps tonight as crowds gather for the final show. Weather hints at possible rain this week while other notes mention a veteran hospital project and local curiosities.

Ray Shifflet, a 23 year aviator with about 15 000 flight hours, piloted a tri motor Stinson Detroiter over Palo Duro Canyon with 60+ passengers aboard. He likened the feat to Douglas Corrigan’s Atlantic crossing and urged residents to view the canyon from the air.
Several notices seek immediate employment including kitchen duties dishwashing manual labor and hourly or daily work. Individuals list experience from housekeeping to case work and child care and offer to start immediately with references available. Locations include Memphis Tex and various streets and apartments.
Mrs Peterson of 1607 Polk Street was injured last night when she accidentally struck an electric fan. Her condition is listed as satisfactory today as she remains at home.
Noreen Leonard, 24, was charged with disturbing the peace after she sat on a tenth floor hotel ledge for over an hour and threatened to jump. A crowd of about two thousand gathered as she alternated between the ledge and a chair. Fire officials and a local businessman intervened, grabbing her from the ledge.
Ama rillo Country Club golfers in the current tournament may enter consolation rounds. Club pro Bill Garre and the tournament committee had debated the format, but eligibility was approved after player requests.
Bastrop County sheriff says a gun seized from two men arrested in Dallas is the weapon used in the Monday holdup at Adolph Lnake Paige filling station. The operator was assaulted as the robbery occurred.
Potter County and Amarillo schools delay the 1938-39 fall term to Tuesday September 6 to allow Labor Day observances. Potter County's eight schools include River Road Soney Highland Park Allison Bushland Long S Brady and Ady.
The sheriff's office reports the arrest of Everett B. Earl in Muskogee Oklahoma on charges of passing a forged instrument. A felony accusation was filed in Justice of the Peace H W Dukes court and Earl may be returned to Amarillo after a similar Oklahoma case. He allegedly passed a $75 check forged on North American Accident Insurance of Chicago at the Amarillo Building jewelry store.
In a simulated clash at Boerne, Blue guardsmen threaten rocks as Brown battalion nears the Blue outpost. Army units delay the attack due to brush fires and marching obstacles amid the Third Army war games.
The Woodmen Circle will hold a night at 8 o'clock in the I. O. O. F. Hall. Mrs Jennie Lindbloom announced that several special guests will be present. Games will be played and refreshments served.
A large fire threatened the army ammunition depot in the reservation’s northwest corner. Hundreds of national guardsmen and regular soldiers mobilized to contain the blaze and protect $6,000,000 worth of ammunition as a southeast wind stoked destruction before turning. The wind shift brought the flames under control.
