Hereford Car Crash Fatal To Miner Ray D Cleland
Ray D Cleland 35 of 2409 South Buchanan Street a field mechanic for Minneapolis Moline Power Implement died after his car struck a parked truck 12 miles west of Hereford on a dirt road. He died at Hereford Hospital 10 30 p m an hour and a half after the crash. Cleland was alone and had been to Friona and was returning to Hereford. The truck carried two Muleshoe men Glade and Lovelady. The accident occurred near Black Palmer County as one tire punctured. the casing was sent to Hereford and the truck occupants saw lights on the truck. Passing motorists notified Hereford authorities and an ambulance rushed Cleland to Hereford. He was a World War veteran earlier in Amarillo. Surviving widow Mrs Florence Cleland. Body taken to Amarillo with funeral plans to be announced by N S Griggs & Sons.
