Telegraph Operator Hubert Cole Misses Roosevelt Parades in Amarillo

Hubert Cole, a telegraph operator, expresses disgust with his role in Amarillo celebrations. He rode in the Mother-in-law parade and on the presidential special train but did not meet Mrs Roosevelt or the President. A friend loaned him a horse in Pleasant Valley, yet he skipped the Old Southwest Days Parade. He helped start the first parade but was several blocks behind Mrs Roosevelt while the President came through. Cole reported the news on AP wires. Officials asked if he would lend his mount to a celebrity, and he hopes to be just part of the crowd next time.
