Mrs. J. N. Vernon plans to depart Friday for Kansas City to join her daughter Miss Agnes Vernon. They will sail from New York to Scotland to visit relatives and then tour Europe. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Shepherd and children return to Abilene after visiting Mr. and Mrs. F. Rex Walling. Shepherd was formerly pastor in this city and now leads Christ College church at Abilene. Mr. and Mrs. W. Hugh Smith of Los Angeles are in Amarillo visiting relatives. Mrs. C. E. Lester hosts her sister Mrs. Anderson of Dallas at 1511 Pierce Street.

A McCook Field pilot died when his parachute failed to open during a jump from a wrecked aircraft near Lieutenant Bark. Authorities say the jumper fell about 30 feet before impact. prior jumps from the same ship had been successful.
