Ambassador Sheffield has contacted the Mexican foreign office about 4 P Grange of Los Angeles who was arrested in Mexico for narcotics possession. Grange, in America on a temporary visa, may be held without bail as U S authorities seek extradition or transfer to Los Angeles. Officials say the case centers on alleged violations of Mexican narcotics laws and cross border cooperation.
John Gilvin received $5000 for damages to his Amarillo property along the Rock Island right of way after condemning the land. He had asked $7500 for 90 by 300 feet between the round house and Great West Mill as the railroad seeks to lay tracks to the Canadian river. The hearing followed refusals by several owners to grant a right of way as construction continues with a $75,000 fund sought to secure deeds and rights. Commissioners T. W. Cotten J. M. Vernon and L. LeNeveu presided.
Roy Cline Jr. 9, son of Roy and Mrs. Cline, 995 Pillmore Street, was cut on the head and hurt when a truck struck him near Tenth and Pillmore streets at noon. He was riding a bicycle and rode from an alley between Fillmore and Merce streets when the truck hit him, knocking him about 30 feet and demolishing the bicycle. He was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
A brief police report notes the last two days saw limited incidents with no major crimes reported. Authorities urged residents to stay vigilant and report disturbances promptly.
Mayor Lee Bivins announced that the city will drill as many new water wells as needed to boost supply. The decision followed a chamber of commerce meeting where business leaders urged immediate additional wells. Officials of the water company and city commissioners pledged to secure the new wells.
A mass meeting is called for this evening to discuss the unusual growth affecting the city. Citizens and officials are urged to attend and share observations.
Three former governors O B Colquitt Joseph D Sayers and W P Hobby and Mrs Thomas M Campbell signed a call for a statewide Moody rally at 2 pm Saturday in Fair Park Dallas to mobilize supporters for Dan Moody. Cone Johnson will speak with Colquitt as chairman.
