NRA forces in Amarillo will mobilize for a house to house drive in the final week before Labor Day to check compliance with the emergency re employment program. The drive begins August 28 with broad involvement from employers and employees and a signia display survey.
Amarillo and vicinity fair tonight and Wednesday partly cloudy. West Texas partly cloudy with unsettled Panhandle tonight and Wednesday. New Mexico fair tonight and Wednesday with little temperature change. Temperature extremes up to 1 PM: 70 to 92.
The U S agriculture department estimates 1933 cotton production at 12 314 000 bales down from 13 002 000 a year earlier. The first forecast since the farm relief administration crop reduction campaign began aiming to trim 10 000 000 acres. A further 500 000 acre reduction would cut about 3 500 000 bales.
Fort Worth on August 8 reports new retail milk pricing with sweet milk 10 cents a quart and whipping cream 35 cents a pint. Previous sweet milk sold for 7 to 8 cents.

State Treasurer T. D. Boyda announced an embargo on all Kansas bonds and bond coupons after the discovery of bond forgeries estimated to total 500000 dollars.
Reports from New York indicate 15 swimmers drowned at a Queens beach when swept out to sea by a strong undertow. Police headquarters received the notice today about the tragic incident.

Mrs Anna Carman of Columbia New Jersey sued for separation on grounds of extreme cruelty because her husband would not bathe. She said she scrubbed him every Saturday night to keep him from going to work dirty and was ashamed. A separation decree was granted.

Mrs. J. H. Gordon, 32, deserted by her husband, cut the throats of Wynell 8 and Ellen Beth 9 and then killed herself with the same razor. Neighbor Mrs. L. C. Johns found the bodies today in Electra Texas.
In Dallas Judge James C. Wilson ruled that 3.2 per cent beer sales are not subject to padlocking under federal prohibition laws. The hearing tested whether the Gamble restaurant in Dallas should face a permanent injunction after arguments about whiskey traces and transport of beer. Gamble testified he runs an old style bar and holds a federal permit to sell 3.2 beer. The decision on the injunction was to be issued Tuesday afternoon.
A Morrison Torpedo Company nitroglycerine storage tank nine miles north of Amarillo on River Road exploded shortly after noon. No one was hurt. The tank and housing were demolished and debris covered about a half mile. The storage farm lies three miles north and one east of the River Road store.
Fort Worth August 8 state seeks speedy trials for O D Stevens W D Mey and M T Howard each charged three times with murder in the slaying of three men. District Attorney Jesse Martin aims to fast federal grand jury action on mail robbery charges first, then set the homicide trials. Federal action is sought to bolster the state case tied to the February $72 000 poster robbery.
