Jack Gresset 414 West Tenth Avenue reported to detective M. M. Scott that he saw G. C. Cook alone in a car on the Red River bridge near Childress and Quanah, the area where the auto was later found. Cook, a Santa Fe clerk, left home Monday at 9 am and has not been heard from since. His car was found with four tires flat near the Quanah highway. Quanah sheriff and Quanah police chief say progress is being made on the case.
County and district clerks from the Panhandle Plains and all West Texas will attend the seventh annual West Texas Auxiliary convention in Amarillo on August 16 and 17. Host Ted Blackburn of Potter County will preside, with Swisher County’s John W. Grigg and auxiliary secretary Mrs. B R Boren also involved. Seventy five counties will be represented as clerks discuss regional issues not covered at the state convention.
