Officials of the American Railway Express Amarillo branch announce daily shipments via Western Air Express to the east and west. The first west coast shipment includes Calvo fruit orchids First National movie film reels and fruit bound for Kansas City. Young Bandit Steals Cash From Houston Bank Liaison

A young man jumped onto the running board of a car at Texas and Milam and forced the driver to take him to Sam Houston park. He seized 1084 dollars from a handbag belonging to National Life Insurance Company employees J. M. Wigren and W. M. Pearson while the car was moved about ten blocks. He fled in the stolen vehicle.

College Vote Planned For Late August

Half the signatures needed to call an election to fund a junior college here will be gathered today, announced school board president G G Ordway. petitions with 800 names will be presented tomorrow night, and the election is set for about August 31. Officials expect to announce plans for a junior college head this afternoon with a president to be hired on a conditional basis pending the vote. reply

Graf Zeppelin set for world circumnavigation from Lakehurst

United Press reports the Graf Zeppelin will depart Lakehurst on a world circumnavigation to pioneer an east to west air route. Dr. Hugo Eckener aims to attract financiers to back a transatlantic service, planning stops toward Seattle and Los Angeles with a return anticipated in early September.

Tulsa dog wins Amarillo Trophy in Wheeler field trial

Lord Redfield owned by T. W. Campbell of Tulsa dazzled judges at Wheeler in the Merbers All Age stakes. Tim Moran, owned by Dr. A. B. Potter of Oklahoma City, finished second as the huge silver trophy drew a large, approving crowd. The trophy requires three wins by one owner to become permanent.

Record rain here floods district with sewer line damage

A severe August rainstorm dumped 1.70 inches in 30 minutes on Amarillo causing road and yard flooding, broken sewer mains, and extensive basement damage. The gas company's ditching ruptured a sewer line near Eleventh and Harrison, flooding Central Presbyterian Church basement and surrounding homes. City crews, pumps, and repairs are underway.

Three Drown During West Texas Family Reunion

Spur Texas Aug 7 three participants in a long awaited West Texas family reunion died in an earthen cattle tank. Herman McBroom 12 waded into a hole and cried for help his father Escell McBroom 36 Brownfield dived in and both men died Henry Smith 32 Lamesa and his father 55 remained on the bank as others tried to rescue them. The Smiths had gathered with 22 relatives at the home of C J Smith for the reunion which ended in tragedy.

Forest fires threaten vast timberlands in Oklahoma

A series of fires in McCurtain Leflore and Pushmataha counties burned 100000 acres and threatened 1 million more while 200 men led by district forester C O Doster fought the blazes.
