Billie Millar, a Kansas public service commissioner, visits the Belvidere area with his son Cyrus to buy young cattle. He is known for the “Billie Millar kind” of Panhandle stock and declined to discuss politics or his commission duties.
Ten members of the Amarillo Jobbers and Manufacturers Association will organize the second Pan handle Plains Business conference to be staged in early September. The directors decided at a meeting at the Amarillo hotel to leave planning to the association’s leaders and assign topics on a truck depot and freight insurance to respective committees. Henry Gooch presided in Bob Emmett’s absence.
Pat Landergin purchased five hundred steer and heifer calves from Campbell and McIlroy of Canyon for November 1 delivery at 25 dollars per head. The calves, from JJ and Cross F cows, range on the Campbell and McIlroy ranch near Umbarger and are touted as a top bunch in the Panhandle. Landergin has bought about 7,000 cattle in ten days as calf sales rise with higher prices.
A local store offers double S and H Green Stamps on all purchases daily. Rand Drug Co located at 422 Taylor Street advertises that customers earn twice as many Green Stamps there versus other places.
