Railroad Rounds and Rumblings

A late 19th century Kansas paper recaps Ed Howe stories from 1880 about an Illinois Central land deal in Vicksburg with a staged police warning, a banquet reveal, and Southern hospitality. The piece blends nostalgia with unity under the flag, then shifts to local notices, ads, and brief items on railway workers, public figures, and dam material shipments.
