Dallas friends traveling to the wedding include Mr and Mrs Royal C Mille and Miss Effie Arrington. The couple will honeymoon at Waggoner’s summer lodge near Colorado Springs before leaving for California next week.
Standard Oil Company of Indiana announces an extra 25 cent disbursement and regular 28 cent quarterly dividend on common stock, payable Sept 15 to stockholders of record Aug 15. An earlier 15 cent extra was paid June 15 to Edward G. Seubert, president, based on six month earnings.
Judith Allen, a brunette film actress, reported to police that a burglar swiped $8,000 worth of jewelry and loving letters from her home in Hollywood while she and her husband Jack Doyle attended a theater. The husband, a singing pugilist from Ireland, was not present.
Drought drags on across the Midwest as farmers fear a severe corn crop drop. Officials estimate the yield may fall to about 1.5 billion bushels, 1 billion below average. Meteorologists predict little immediate rain while weekend showers help only some states. Prices jumped to 1054 per bushel last week amid trading interest.

The Interstate Commerce Commission denied a petition by class one railroads to convert emergency freight surcharges into permanent charges. The move would have added about 104 million dollars in annual revenue but was rejected, leaving routes to seek reconsideration or adjust specific rates subject to future investigations. Coalition of coal producers and other shippers argued the surcharges impede freight movement and divert traffic to other transport modes.
The Panhandle Livestock Association and Texas groups with federal officials plan a soil conservation program for state ranges. Kay Taylor leads the move, aiming to present a clear plan to Washington after a two hour Amarillo Hotel meeting attended by about 19. A regional committee may visit Washington within two weeks to discuss details.

Senator Tom Connally seeks a reversal of the Public Works Administration decision to withhold new Texas projects. He argues the claim of Labor shortages harms many already filed and approved Texas projects, some with bonds sold, awaiting new allocations.
Amarillo and vicinity expect a partly cloudy night and Tuesday. West Texas remains generally fair tonight and Tuesday, while New Mexico sees showers in the north and cooler conditions in the northeast. Temperature extremes in Amarillo reach 69 and 49 degrees by 1 PM today.
Lester Wilson a 27 year old Amarillo man and the three year old daughter of a California tourist, Patsy Ruth Glasgow, were injured in a Sunday night collision on the Panhandle highway. Wilson’s car struck the Glasgow vehicle which was parked on the highway edge. Both Wilson and Patsy Ruth Glasgow were hospitalized at St. Anthony's. Police reported the impact occurred as the Glasgow car rested along the roadway.

Grief hushes Hollywood as private funeral services are held for Elizabeth Fisher Burns, wife of Bob Burns, who died after major surgery. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park follows her death yesterday in the Hollywood home she shared with her husband and their 13 year old son Robert Jr.
