Doak Carter says the army will not disband but move to another camp site possibly in Pennsylvania. R. B. Ellison cites 12 offers for permanent cantonment tracts from 60 to 2000 acres. Waters ordered disband after consulting Governor Ritchie over a Laurel site. Maryland objections blocked the plan. Illness within the B E F camp persisted with frequent ambulance calls and crowded city hospitals.
In Texas the Ferguson and Sterling runoffs for the August 27 Democratic primary shift to smaller towns. Sterling campaigns in Williamson County and Cleburne with nine speeches en route, while Ferguson plans San Marcos San Angelo Coleman and Lampasas stops to broaden reach beyond large cities.

President Hoover’s aides met with Everett Sanders of the Republican National Committee to finalize plans for the August 11 acceptance notification ceremonies as the first printed proof of the speech lay on Hoover’s desk. Walter H. Newton and Lawrence Richey escorted to confer with Sanders at the White House.
