The Amarillo city commission tentatively approved a $457 758 police budget for next year, up from $413 295, adding an inspector, six motorcycle patrolmen, 12 patrolmen and five clerks. The warrant officer will move to the corporation court, and two clerks will free patrol officers for field duty.
President Truman said Eisenhower's European command would not block a possible 1952 presidential bid if the general wished to enter politics. Miss Virginia Marie Fronabarger, longtime Amarillo Public Schools teacher, died at 9:20 a.m. at her Canyon home. Born October 31, 1898 at Weatherford, she came to Canyon in 1915, taught 21 years including first grade at Tyler Street and Lee Bivins, and retired in 1942. She was a beloved educator remembered for love of music and art.
General James H. McCormack Jr the director of military application in Washington and his staff fly to Amarillo to inspect the Pantex atomic energy plant at the Amarillo Club luncheon where Francis Donaldson Walter Stagg R B Jewell and R H Kellogg also attend before an inspection tour to Los Alamos New Mexico with Chamber of Commerce members led by president Bill Gilstrap.

A two year old, Danny Rush, slipped into Gordon-Cummings Lake near Canyon while his mother watched. Mannie Rubin pulled him from 18 feet of water and performed artificial respiration until he revived. Danny suffered no lasting injuries and is recovering at home with his parents, Lt. Everett N. Rush and Mrs. Rush.
Wes ley M. Hall aged 46 of Brownwood was killed when his car struck a bridge near Bangs on US Highway 67 yesterday.
Amarillo and vicinity forecast shows partly cloudy skies with warm highs around 95 degrees and mild nights in the upper 60s to 70s. Agricultural outlook remains favorable for outdoor work, while West Texas and New Mexico areas expect scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with little temperature change.
