About six hundred people attended the Amarillo Summer School Band concert in Ellwood Park last night. Residents nearby heard the music and agreed it was good. The event, directed by Clyde Rowe, was the first scheduled by the band.
E H Baker, Plains Division conductor with the Santa Fe, retires after more than four decades. He began with Frisco in 1901, moved to Missouri Pacific, then joined Santa Fe at Sweetwater and Amarillo, became conductor in 1915, shifted to freight until 1942, then passenger service. Recently he served as helper conductor on the Scout and Grand Canyon Limited. He is married with a son, Joe, living in California.
