Cattlemen Oppose Price Stabilizer Order Over Beef Supply
Texas leaders warn price control will curb production and revive black markets. President Ray Willoughby of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association says the Saturday night order by Price Stabilizer Michael V DiSalle will discourage the industry, force small packers out, and push cattle to back street operators. He notes his group has 9,000 members across four states and would not join any producer strike. The old wartime lesson shows where control leads to black marketing.
