In the Panhandle Texas scene a candidate claims victory tactics while Ernest Thompson retires from Congress race. Community notes praise the News-Globe fundraiser, Lions Club etiquette sales, and Junior League Follies profits. Also featured are local women performers, charity success, and upcoming Guyman celebration.
The Amarillo College Choir presents Ruth Howell soprano and Ann Mason harpist in an 8:15 p.m. concert to close the season. Howell praised for Die Walküre at the Hollywood Bowl, Mason harpist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Season tickets honored, admissions at the door.
The Seventh District board of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs endorsed Mrs. J. W. Walker of Plainview for the state organization's presidency. They voted to place a grand piano in Permanent Headquarters in Austin in her honor as the district convention opened in Shamrock. About 300 delegates and visitors were expected for the afternoon session.
Rev. W. H. Clark of Tulsa opens a series at Glenwood Baptist Church with a message on the Origin of the Church. Tuesday’s speaker to be announced. Rev. L. J. Crawford of Newlin will discuss the Lords Supper and Baptism on Wednesday. Thursday’s speaker is not listed.

Temperatures will reach into the eighties then fall to around 45 tonight as recent showers deposited moisture across the Panhandle with varied totals including Memphis 1.16 and Shamrock 1.09 inches. Canyon reported a good rain while other towns logged smaller amounts.
Rev. C. C. Griffeth of Olton and other named preachers will present the evangelistic message Friday evening. The speakers are noted ministers inviting the public to hear these men teach church doctrines.
