The Texas House voted to refund $300,000 to West Texas farmers in 21 counties for expenses to sterilize and fumigate cotton in 1929 and 1930 to stop pink bollworm spread. Police chief W R McDowell warns residents in Amarillo about counterfeit dimes passed recently. Merchants were alerted by telephone, and so far under a dollar in bogus coins have been found. The dimes are made of babbitt and coated with quicksilver but look real at a glance.

Sheriff John B. Lott prepared to travel to Austin to seek Sanchez extradition from Nuevo Laredo Mexico to face trial for the slaying of 11 year old Edna Merle Springer near Leming last week. Dispatches report Sanchez said he killed her when she resisted an attempted attack while he watched her from a field.
Rescue parties searched San Francisco Bay by air and water for five young boaters missing since their small craft capsized early Sunday. The missing are Gilbert Loken Jr and his wife Mary of San Francisco, Carl Jefferson and Lydia Jefferson of Oakland, and A Sheridan Hubbard of Piedmont.
The Amarillo City Commission will hear bids for furnishing a gas distribution system with few other items on the agenda. Contractors and material men are expected to present bids just before the session opens, per city secretary LeVerne Calhoun.

Injuries to Mrs. Ruth Childers Borger woman were not serious and she is improving after a car crash over an embankment Saturday night near Muleshoe. Mrs. J. M. Capehart died Sunday afternoon at Sudan from injuries. Mrs. Childers, her mother and husband Grady Childers were traveling from Borger to Muleshoe. Mr. Childers was uninjured.
City tax collector and assessor James Bowen suffered internal injuries and a possible skull fracture after a motorcycle crash on West Tenth Avenue. He remained in Northwest Texas Hospital for several days with a physician stating he was not seriously injured, despite initial concerns.
A district court suit seeks 25000 and 6197.75 interest against C. C. Julian of Oklahoma and California. The Corporate Finance Company of Los Angeles filed the case in Oklahoma City. Julian received an extra week to present assets after Oklahoma County confirmed California judgments nearing 200000 against John Salsberry of Los Angeles.
Ruth York age 15 was struck and killed by lightning while taking shelter under a tree during a storm near Giddings Texas The body was found hours later by Ernest King’s sons who were seeking cattle at the site.
