48 Planes Damaged In Albuquerque Hangar

A gale west of Albuquerque yesterday and a freak whirlwind damaged 48 training planes at Cutter-Carr Flying Service Field. Two employees were slightly injured in the incident. Carrollton funeral services were held for Thomas Wood Tucker a 75 year old famed sweet potato grower nicknamed Tater Tucker.

Promotion for O Hare Advance Sought by Roosevelt

President Roosevelt urged the Senate to approve Lieutenant Commander Edward H. O Hare's promotion within the navy list. O Hare shot down five Japanese bombers and damaged a sixth in Pacific actions, earlier receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor. The move moves him ahead of peers as later promotions are considered.

Guelph Ontario April 23 a Western Canada farmer trainee group could not quit rising at 5 AM. The bugle now sounds reveille at 6 AM instead of 6 30 in the Canadian active army basic training center near here. Bennett Rites Set Friday for Amarillo Man

Leslie L. Bennett 59 of Amarillo died recently. Rites will be held at Griges chapel at 10 Friday, with Rev. Lloyd Jones and Rev. FE B Fincher presiding. Palo Duro Lodge to perform Masonic rites at Llano Cemetery. Survivors include widow, two adopted daughters, three brothers and a sister.

In Burma theater a Texan pilot pursued a zero fighter to its crash, then survived damage from a second attacker as oil sprayed his cockpit.
