Connor will join cavalry units along the Mexican border as part of a two phase air and ground drill. Major General Ernest Hinds commands Corps Area maneuvers with Major General Mason M. Patrick directing Air Corps plans. The exercise aims to test cross country flights of 1500 to 2100 miles, air ground coordination, and bombing defense. Brig. Gen. James E. Fechet will oversee a sizable air unit including 30 pursuit planes and 13 observation planes, with 12 transports and one staff plane.
