Washington April 19 The Interstate Commerce Commission granted railroads a further temporary 4 percent freight rate increase, cost to the public about 300 million dollars yearly. The rise follows a series of temporary boosts, bringing total temporary gains to 24 percent of the requested 30 percent. Roads expect the change to take effect around May 1 with 10 days notice. Amarillo sources say tariffs are ready for filing and the move, while unelaborated, advances the industry toward permanent adjustments.
