Man Builds Fence From Surplus Practice Guns
Frank Satterfield solved a wood shortage by using 4000 surplus practice guns to create a 100 by 125 foot garden fence near his home at 4221 West Fifteenth. About 1500 guns were used. the rest were sold to neighbors and mothers for Christmas gifts. Joe Smith Sr. helped with fence sections after buying the Satterfield house, and Duke Nally crafted lawn chairs from the guns, with a few chairs at 2905 Jackson.
