Sherman Amarillo resident T-Bone Stout received a three year penitentiary term from a Claude jury for stealing tools from a Claude blacksmith shop last fall. Accomplice Oren Stuart was removed from Potter county jail and faces trial at Claude for the same offense. Alleged duo broke into the shop, took a hammer used in robbing a safe at Clarendon, and were previously found guilty there with six year sentences each.
The Department of Justice authorized the U S district attorney for the Western District of Texas to appeal the district court's dismissal of an indictment against Representative Harry M. Wurzbach. He faced charges under a section banning solicitation of political contributions by a congress member or government employee.
The city commission accepted Ray Edinburg's resignation as superintendent of the water department. He has led the water system since completion and earned a $5 000 annual salary. No successor has been named, according to commission members.
Officer ER. R. Murr was knocked unconscious when his motorcycle skidded at Fourth and Polk streets last night. He was taken to St. Anthony hospital and returned home after about an hour. he had been seriously injured in a prior motorcycle crash several months ago.
Ticket sales for two performances by Tipica Fronteriza are brisk at the City Drug Store. Sales opened this morning and numerous seats in most sections were taken before noon. Top price cited is 1.50 dollars and the evening show will differ from the afternoon concert.
A band of masked men demolished the National Textile Workers Union strike headquarters in Gastonia near the Loray Mill. A relief store next door was also destroyed. several fights and shots were reported but no injuries. Guards secured the area as arrests were made of ten to thirteen people.
William Thomas Pfleiderer 57 died last night at his West Sixth Avenue home after returning from a downtown show. He operated a barber shop near his home. Survived by widow three daughters and one son. Daughters named Mrs. Edgar Holston Amarillo Mrs. C B Manning Plainview Mrs. L L McNeill Los Angeles CA and L R Pfleiderer Sterling CO. Body in state at Boxwell Bros Funeral home with arrangements pending.
Bulgarian police said they thwarted an assassination bid on King Boris after finding two unexploded bombs in his private railway coach. The obsolete devices could have wrecked the coach, and authorities received warnings that communists planned to kill the king if the bombs did not explode.
