The large chacma baboon shot after killing its brother in the monkey house will be stuffed at the Museum of Natural History for display. In a future exhibit children may see wax figures of Alexander Caesar and Napoleon beside the baboon with a cautionary sign.
The forecast calls for fair conditions tonight and Saturday. Temperature extremes today reached 48 degrees by 1 o clock, with previous values at 61 and 29 on a year ago date. The weather suggests mild, swimming and fishing conditions may be possible for the area.
The Chicago to New Orleans air mail test begins as Lieut R D Knapp departs New Orleans for Mobile and Birmingham. Capt Asa Duncan, with a Liberty engine aircraft, relays mail to Nashville while Maxwell Field in Montgomery handles the first legs. The route aims to prove time savings and boost financial exchanges.
The Gates well in Hutchinson county Section 107 Block Y swabbed 200 barrels of oil in six hours yesterday. Prairie Oil and Gas superintendent G Rea Mes reports the well is 3 058 feet deep after recent drilling progress. Once cleaned out it may exceed 500 barrels per day.
Definite announcement of improvements will be made at a meeting of the Amarillo Real Estate board and the realtors at the Houston Street Methodist church on Thursday night. T. W. Cotten, president of the school board, announced this last night amid a small civic club gathering, with another meeting planned in two weeks.
New York April 1 doctors removed an abscess from Babe Ruth back this morning and said the operation was successful and the patient is resting well. The statement came from St Vincents hospital after Ruth was returned to his room.
Lake Charles La April 17 W Byron and Robert Dunlap were found guilty of the murder of Deputy Sheriff S B Duhon by a jury there late last night. The verdict came as a surprise to observers.
The explosion at the Cathedral of Svetikrai during General Georgheff’s funeral in Sofia kills 140, including 20 women and 10 children, with six generals and thirty officers among the dead. Martial law is imposed as curfew and disrupted communications follow.
Main line Rock Island trains No. 29 4 and 12 were detoured through Amarillo and Elena from Tucumcari last night due to a 165 foot bridge failure near Greenburg Kansas. Officials expect restoration and regular service within twenty four hours. Through service was only slightly delayed.
An express messenger was shot and wounded probably fatally by four robbers who intercepted him between Rock Island station and the Commercial National bank in Blue Island. They escaped with $10,000.

Galveston April 17 police arrest four men tied to a Fort robbery and a spree of murders and hold ups across the southwest. Williams Lindsey Ralph Mason and Dick Williams are held while authorities pursue San Antonio links. A separate farm fire near Gainesville killed James and Paul Jephete, six and seven, trapped in a locked barn believed set by children playing with matches. Fire crews from Whitesboro contained the blaze.
In Greenville Texas on April 17 the initial Kilonverse of the Ku Klux Klan province No 2 met with 250 to 500 delegates and officers from all thirty northeast Texas counties. Delegations came from Dallas Denison Sherman Paris Sulphur Springs Bomban McKinney Cooper Mount Pleasant Clarksville Texarkana.
Raleigh reports Charlies W. Stewart age 51 and Elmer Stewart age 23 were executed in the electric chair for a Brunswick county double murder. The father died after three shocks, the son after two. Also noted are tremors on Formosa Island and a minor quake felt in Tokyo at 4:52 this morning.
The Globe counted 536 autos and eleven wagons under the Sixth Street Viaduct between 5 and 6 PM yesterday. Estimations suggest about 1,608 Amarilloans traveled Sixth Street in that hour, with 800 cars per hour during peak times and 3,600 per day. A few slowdowns occurred when heavy vehicles crossed, and three speeding cars were noted.

The large Irvington home of Dr. C. Stephenson a former Ku Klux Klan leader in Indiana was gutted by a fire early today. Investigators found kerosene and gasoline cans amid the wreckage and firemen reported gas jets turned on before flames erupted. An explosion preceded the blaze.
