A St Lucas Iowa farmer, Victor Berry, was hijacked by four men near Chicago before dawn. They seized his truck, dumped him miles away, and left with a load of potatoes beets and vegetables intended for Chicago markets. Police were notified. the patrols followed the suspect vehicle.

The plan seeks funds to purchase the land and present it to Santa Fe, with some owners agreeing, some rejecting, and others awaiting negotiation.
