College band cadet corps and student groups will be present.
Fred Stone and his Smiling Faces musical comedy troupe arrive in Amarillo two days hence for matinee and night performances at the Municipal Auditorium. Wilbur C. Hawk urges immediate ticket pickups for reserved seats by Friday morning with the City Drug Store as the ticket board location open until 3 o clock nightly. Police Chief McDowell assists ushers to manage expected large crowds and seating strictness in the 50 cent section.
Three men armed with pistols abducted Electra Chief of Police James T. Taylor, water department employee J. C. Harris, and oil agent A. F. McCormick. They were taken eight miles south of Electra, released, and the car abandoned. The trio escaped. victims were unharmed aside from the pistol theft. Local officers pursued leads and Amarillo papers found in a coupe tied to the affair.
Police were called as a demonstrator from the Workers Ex-Service Men's League pressed to be heard out of order in a bonus certificates hearing. The session paused as order was restored and a police guard was ordered.
Plainview April 14 The Panhandle Plains Dairy Show closed with a parade of champions and grand champions through the business district. The highlight was You'll Do's Blanchia Gipsy owned by Tierra Blanca farms Canyon named grand champion Jersey cow. Raleigh owned by E. M. Hester of O Donnell repeated as grand champion Jersey bull. Flowerdale Echo Cynthia tied Texas Tech records as grand champion overall and milk production winner. Gamboge Foxs Marie owned by J M Watson Amarillo set a show production record with 2.4 pounds butterfat in 24 hours.
In Waco Texas April 14 during the seventy ninth grand conclave of the Texas Grand Commandery Knights Templar death interrupted proceedings. W H Anderson 55 of Taylor died of heart disease at a hotel at noon. On Monday Charles H Brooks past commander of the Waco Knights Templar Lodge also died of heart disease.
A Houston fire destroyed the Y M C A clubhouse and is under investigation for possible arson. Thirty newsboys narrowly escaped as flames swept the building late last night.

Izvestia reports that Russia's coal metals and transportation lag the final year five year plan. First quarter railroad transport at 86 percent, coal at 86.9 percent, metallurgy in the Urals slow, steel shortage endangers auto and tractor plants. Freight loadings total 67 million tons, 14 percent below target.
Two armed men robbed the First National Bank in Medford Oklahoma early today, holding 12 townspeople including the sheriff and night watchman. They escaped in a black Ford coach with about 2500 dollars, pursued by a posse from Blackwell and Enid.
Plans for heading up federal loans in the Panhandle will be outlined at a 2 o clock Friday session led by Charles W. Sherrill Dallas state chief inspector Lawrence Westbrook Dallas and J H Lynch Washington D C The meeting at the Herring Hotel will include county committeemen county agricultural agents and chamber of commerce secretaries Applications for loans to put in this year s crops must be made before April 30 Sherrill and Lynch who are now in Arizona will arrive Friday morning by plane.
The physician said Senator Harris of Georgia is in a quite serious condition with an intestinal ailment and a weakening heart after a long illness. He is being treated in Washington and doctors monitor his health closely.
Mrs Grace Carver Ransom opened a three day contract school in the Fair stating women bid better while men play them better and that there is nothing mysterious about the game. Using blackboard humor and lively instruction she simplified rules turning the game into friendly props and a fascinating study.
A bridge tea for Amarillo women is planned at the Herring Hotel tomorrow at 2 30 p m. Mrs Grace Carver Ransom will lecture explain hands and answer questions during the three day contract school. Junior Welfare League members will supervise tables with a small admission. Entries for next week’s bridge tournament may be made in the afternoon.
Mrs Ransom compares the card deck to a military unit with leaders as officers and numbered cards as soldiers. She notes honors gain value by position at the table and stresses that the buck private in the trenches may win more tricks than honors in some hands.

Former Governor Dan Moody will join attorneys challenging the pledge required by the Texas Democratic executive committee for May 7, 1932 presidential primary conventions. The Texas Supreme Court will hear arguments next Saturday at 9 a.m. on a certified question from Dallas for legality of enforcing the pledge.

In Honolulu on April 14 1942 prosecutors in the Massie case called Mrs. Joe Kahahawai Sr the victim’s mother to testify as they present final evidence against four Americans Lieutenant Thomas H Massie the Fortescue family and two sailors are accused of killing Kahahawai in a premeditated act. The prosecutor outlined a trail of bullets pistols and rope to show planned vengeance after an attack on Mrs Massie.
Washington April 14 The House elections committee disallowed a recount petition by Republican Charles O Connor and affirmed Wesley E Disney a Democrat winner as the first Oklahoma district representative to the House.
Mrs. Josephine Scott a 65 year old Muleshoe resident known as Madame Zingare told a county court at law jury that Dr. H A Waller removed her lower and upper plates at her boarding house on Pierce Street and fled after slapping her face. She said she needed the teeth for chewing and planned to return to settle the cost and have them reworked.
