U S narcotics chief Anslinger announced the seizure of enough narcotics for a million doses and the arrest of 13 men in a nationwide ring with operations reaching Missouri Oklahoma and New York. He said Kansas City was a major distribution hub and federal raids were the largest in the Middle West.

Ira G. Yates, famed oil magnate whose Pecos County discovery field boosted Texas oil, died in Seton Infirmary after pneumonia and uremia. John Torrio Sentenced to Federal Prison for Tax Evasion
