Amarillo Gas Rates Targeted After City Audit

An audit for Amarillo shows gas rates as excessive and proposes a lower rate schedule. The city commission adopted a resolution calling the rates unfair and urged action, including a new ordinance and possible city ownership of the gas properties. The Black & Veach appraisal valued Amarillo Gas at 1,440,700 and Panhandle Pipeline at 365,000 with earnings reported at 10 percent and 48 percent respectively.

Mrs Gann Granted Social Status of Vice President's Wife

The diplomatic corps at the British Embassy decided to accord Mrs Edward Everett Gann the social status normally given to the wife of a vice president. The decision followed over an hour of discussion and will be sent to Secretary Stimson via Sir Esme Howard, British ambassador.

Dawes Named United States Ambassador to Great Britain

United States former Vice-President Charles G. Dawes was appointed ambassador to London. British authorities indicated Dawes would be warmly received and acceptable to King George. The White House announced the nomination after State Department word that Britain would accept him as successor to Alanson B. Houghton, who sails for the U S on April 27. The delay came as the king recovered from illness.

New Trial Granted for Woman in Mate Death Case

Mrs. Clyde Baker, convicted in Jones county for the alleged murder of her husband Charles Baker and sentenced to 30 years, was granted a new trial by the court of criminal appeals. The reversal followed a motion for rehearing and remand for further proceedings.

Lindbergh Leaves Brownsville for Unannounced Destination

Col. Charles Lindbergh departed from Brownsville Airport shortly after 11 AM in an aircraft carrying camping gear and avoided disclosing his next stop. He said the press has caused unnecessary anxiety over his safety. Only a few spectators saw him land before he headed toward an uncertain route, with plans possibly toward New York for Ambassador Herrick’s France arrival.

Federals Seize Juarez As Evacuation Sparks Exodus

Juarez, Mexico, saw a Federal march by Col. Jesus Trianna with 250 cavalry and 900 men advancing from Guadalupe as Gen. Marcelo Caraveo withdrew with 2,000 rebels toward the Sierra Madre. Almazan Holds Chihuahua City as Rebels Retreat

His father Joel Sanders describes him as about 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown hair blue eyes and a gray shirt blue overalls and khaki wool coat. He walks with head down and speaks little.
