Local residents along the North highway petition for two county traffic officers from city limits to River Road school. Led by Miss Edna Far Ingram and Mrs. W. S. Phillips, the drive lists over 100 residents and asks J. W. Triplett and L. A. Goetz be named as motorcycle officers.
Esther Turner aged 25 living with her grandmother near the fairgrounds and employed by Womack's Beauty Parlor died at St. Anthony hospital at 3 this morning. Funeral plans await relatives from Shreveport Louisiana. She is survived by her mother in Louisiana and grandmother Mrs. Horton of Amarillo. Mr and Mrs J E Carrington recently left for San Antonio and then Vera Saskatchewan where Mr Carrington has oil leases and will begin drilling as thaw begins.
At the last P T A meeting at the senior high school delegates were chosen for the district Parent-Teacher convention in Lubbock on April 10 11 and 12. Selected were Mrs Gervis O Taylor senior high dean of girls Mrs M F E Jordan Mrs Otis Phillips Mrs J W Collins Miss Bertie Warren and Mrs C G Truitt. The nominating committee for the student loan fund trustees was Mrs Ed S McKinney and Mrs Gervis Taylor.
Funeral services for Sadie Francis Funk five years old of Vega will be held Tuesday at 11 am from Vega Baptist church. The Rebecca Lodge Vega members presiding. Burial will be in Vega Cemetery. Survivors include husband and five children. Body in state at Blackburn parlors today, transferred to Vega Tuesday morning at 9:30.
The many friends of Mrs. Fred Wolfe of 301 Arch Road County Club addition will be glad to know she is convalescing from a serious illness.
The Junior Child Study club gathered last Friday in Mrs. George Pideoke’s new residence at 125 Cheyenne Road. The Junior Women’s club meeting with Mrs. W D Burger at 2200 A Van Buren was postponed from Tuesday.
