Democratic nominee Anton J. Cormack swept Chicago yesterday, defeating incumbent Big Bill Thompson by an overwhelming margin. Cormack secured more than 191,000 votes, the largest majority ever recorded in a Chicago mayoral race.
Five to seven bandits robbed the Central State Bank in Sherman Texas of 30000 cash and 10000 in Liberty bonds. Employees and customers were forced into a back room while the vault was opened. Officers across North Texas and Oklahoma were asked to watch for suspects as the crime unfolded with two bandits entering first and others taking positions inside.
Austin April 8 temporary restraining order bars enforcement of the Texas East Texas field proration plan. Judge J D Moore granted the injunction delaying the prorating date to May 4. Railroad Commission member Lon A Smith said the commission must await court action and face the matter in court. See PROBATION Page 2.

Cermak to take office soon, likely within a week, amid calls of a new business era.
The Texas Senate, voting 22 to 8, passed finally the Woodul bond issue substitute with a 25 to 5 adoption. Proponents led to victory by one vote. final passage required two thirds. Senators Parrish Hardin Deberry supported final passage. Greer was absent.

The ruling clears the path for Hutchinson commissioners to approve the Panhandle bond.
Amarillo residents approve three charter amendments with broad support in the general city election. Amendment No 1 extends payment time for property owners, Amendment No 2 authorizes park bonds, Amendment No 3 on ordinance publication fails in precincts though gains near two to one overall. Mayor Ernest O Thompson leads votes, with several write in candidates noted.
YUMA, Ariz., April 8. Assur ance aid would have been granted. Hutton Bellah, editor and former Altus Times-Democrat publisher, ended a 15 month masquerade with a bullet Monday. The two widows mourn his death. Bellah was known to one as Bellah and to the other as William A. Lee of the Yuma Sentinel. He committed death by own action Monday.
Governor Ross Sterling signed the division bill allowing Texas A and M College to share in the University of Texas oil wealth totaling 17.5 million dollars. A and M will receive 200000 dollars annually for three years starting Sept 1, 1931, then one third of future income. The boards may pledge their shares for a fifteen year period to fund building programs.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the death sentence of Joe Shield for the killings of his wife Opal Mae Shield and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Shields, in Brookesmith Brown County last May. Shields pleaded insanity.
Broadway star Betty Compton and film dialogue director Edward D. Dowling wed in New York on February 16. The union lasted 33 days before a Cuernavaca divorce court granted Compton a decree on grounds of cruelty and failure to provide maintenance.
Chicago reports heroic salesgirl Mrs. Sarah Heatherly stopped a bandit during a shooting at Marshall Field's. The robber killed one and wounded four before a struggle ended with his capture by coworkers and customers. Heatherly was among the injured in the melee. Fred Lee identified by police.
Eleven year old Gloria Caruso, daughter of a renowned opera star, will open a series of tasks on radio next week under the American Child Health Association. She will speak about her views on May Day, as reported from New York on April 8.
Municipal affairs across nearly twenty Texas cities calmed after Tuesday elections. Dallas elected nine council members to implement the new city manager system by a large margin. Love Field bond issue of 300000 approved. Corpus Christi chose Edwin Plato as mayor and selected commissioners. Fort Worth council members returned unopposed. Beaumont and Gainesville re elected officials. Block defeated Wooldridge in an unspecified race.
Federal agents seize 1 500 cases of Central American liquor valued up to 500 000 after a 50 day probe. Three men Royal Goodwin Gus Land and E Jackson held. raids linked to Houston Galveston San Antonio operations. Bottles stored in Beeville garages shipped via Beeville to major cities.
Mrs. J. W. Warren of Cardwell Missouri died today in Memphis Tennessee per a message received by her niece Mrs. C. H. B. at 800 Florida Street. Mrs. Bus mother Mrs. M. J. Dozier sister in law of Mrs. Warren will leave tonight for the stricken home Cleo Dozier nephew will probably go tonight. Mrs. Warren died following an operation.
The forecast indicates possible showers and cooler conditions on Thursday. In West Texas including Amarillo, expect cloudy skies with showers tonight and a drop in temperatures tonight and Thursday. Today's temperature extremes at 1 PM were 75 and 42.
Tickets for The First Year at the Municipal Auditorium go on sale Thursday morning at City Drug Store. The Little Theater production, under the Tri-State Fair Association, closes the season with parquet seats at 5 cents and balcony at 35 cents. Little Theater members may buy with their membership card.
Protesters press for zoning changes with most favoring retail or commercial use of their land. The planning and zoning board reconvened at 2 pm after a Wednesday morning session in city hall. Chairman McKnight said hearings may extend beyond noon as additional objections are heard. Mr Griggs praised the board for its effort and supported zoning despite potential property impacts.
