Giants Improved and Ready to Compete in National League
New York Giants manager John Mc Graw, on his 58th birthday, asserts the club is stronger and will contend for the league pennant. He cites the Cubs as the main threat while St Louis and Pittsburgh may challenge. Brooklyn endures double plays as they lost to Cleveland 5 1. The Yankees routed Oklahoma City 13 5 as Babe Ruth drew a field mob and cops aided Ruth’s escape. Artie Nehl joined the Cubs for the title run, holding Houston to two singles in four innings, with Hornsby and Wilson homering in a 12 3 Cub win.
