Reds blame British for air crash over Berlin

Senate confirms Paul Hoffman Erie Recovery Program director

In Washington on April 7 the Senate unanimously confirmed Paul Hoffman as director of the European Recovery Program to implement the Western Europe aid plan. Truman named Hoffman yesterday, and he indicated a skeleton organization could be in place within a week. Hoffman expects to name a deputy administrator and roving ambassador soon and said he has no Europe travel plans initially.

Freedom Train visit outlined for Amarillo May 27

Eric Friedheim of the American Heritage Foundation outlined preparations for the Freedom Train arrival in Amarillo on May 27. Mayor Lawrence Hagy and C. T. Davis led efforts with plans to observe Freedom Week May 23 27 and raise about 2500 to cover roughly 6000 cost for bringing the train not a canoe.

Contempt citation in coal strike case against John L Lewis
