Finland-Russia treaty pact hinges on parliamentary approval

Helsinki informed sources report Finland will retain its political independence and grant no new bases to Russia on Finnish soil under a Moscow negotiated treaty. The foreign office said Finland’s delegation agreed with Soviet negotiators on a friendship and mutual assistance pact, pending ratification by Finland’s parliament which opposes military ties with the USSR.

Congressional Hearing Plans Visits to Texas and Mexico

Representative Eugene Worley announced a congressional hearing tour visiting Amarillo and El Paso in Texas and then Mexico to review foot and mouth disease control progress. Dates are tentative with a flight to Amarillo planned next week and a hearing to follow before El Paso. The group will hear testimony on a long range federal farm policy and cattlemen opinions on combating disease threats to live stock.

Amarillo Joins Major Private Plane Skyway Route

Amarillo becomes part of Skyway 30 a planned trans continental air highway for private planes. The route Charleston South Carolina to Los Angeles will include visual air markers in towns along the path guiding pilots with latitude longitude and distance to the nearest airfield. A. J. LaBaile of the Civil Aeronautics Administration announced the designation and Rex Baxter emphasized skyway 30 as a second system for navigational aids.

Cal Farley, famed for youth work, welcomes a granddaughter named Michelle born at 10:26 PM at Northwest Texas Hospital.
