AWOL Soldier, Four Sought in Channing Theft Case

An AWOL Amarillo soldier is questioned in a theft of about 2000 in aviation gear from Lt. Robert W. Edelen’s car in Channing Wednesday night. Most loot recovered by Potter County Sheriff's deputies. suspect held in Hollis, Okla. Four others sought, including two juvenile girls, with one charged for delinquency of a 13 year old Amarillo girl. Lieutenant Edelen was visiting in Channing. Hallmark charged in Hartley County and held in Hollis.

13 Per Cent Boost In Gas Rates Sought

Amarillo Gas Company filed for an average 13 percent increase with the city commission. The plan uses a sliding scale raising minimum bills to 1.25 dollars for 3,000 cubic feet and 25 cents per thousand cubic feet for next 67,000 cubic feet, with further reductions to 21 cents. The proposal would lift gross revenue by 170,000 dollars for 1950 test year and set earnings at 5.9 percent on a fair value rate base.

Man Killed When Car Hits Truck Near Stratford

Stratford April 6 A 24 year old Army tailoonman Jerry Frizzell home on furlough from Camp Hood was killed early today when his car collided with a Denver Amarillo Express semi trailer truck ten miles south of Stratford on Highway 287 The truck driver Charlie Bebout and relief Gene Moore said Frizzell's car weaved and dimmed lights suggested sleep at the wheel Sheriff Doc Wilson and troopers cited the left truck wheels on the soft shoulder and noted the trailer axle was knocked free The deceased son of Mr and Mrs W S Frizzell is survived by two brothers Bill and Jack and his Stratford parents long time Sherman County farmers
