Jail Breaker Arrested in Panhandle After Escape

Marshall Ratliff, 23, who fled Carson County jail on August 29 1935 with Raymond Hardy, was arrested in Fort Worth and brought to Panhandle. Ratliff faces car theft charges and potential federal counts. Hardy was recaptured and jailed previously. Ratliff’s record dates to 1931 petty theft at age 17.

Doctor Hill visits from Washington AAA conference

Grover Hill of the American Automobile Association, now based in Washington, arrived from Dalhart where he attended a range inspectors conference. He said he expected to leave tomorrow after the school of instruction for future pasture conservation program directors.

Two suspects arrested in Oklahoma car theft case

Two men wanted in Roger Mills County on a car theft charge were arrested last night by Sheriff Adams and Deputy Gib Landis. They are held in the county jail, booked as Vernon Little and Paul Black. J. J. Thomas of the Production Credit Corporation in Houston was in Amarillo on business.

Miss Pullen Dies Near Panhandle

Elien Jane Pullen aged 74 died this morning at the Pullen family home seven miles southeast of Panhandle after several weeks illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock at the family home.

Panhandle burial for longtime Carson County resident

The Panhandle Methodist Church burial will be in the family plot. Born in Terre Haute Indiana she moved to the Panhandle 17 years ago and settled in Carson County. The body is in the care of Boxwell Brothers and she leaves no survivors. Her brother Samuel S. Pullen died in 1928 and was a pioneer wheat farmer and rancher.
