Dallas April 5 The charger owned by 16 year old Fred Bosworth leaped onto a car hood on a highway near White Rock Lake. Bosworth suffered a broken arm and cuts while the horse escaped uninjured and the car hood was smashed.
Dr. C. W. Raynham commander of the Amarillo Knights of Templar leaves tonight for the three day state convention at Temple. He serves as delegate and will invite the group to host Amarillo’s state convention next year.
Members of the inter civic club group sponsoring Amarillo's annual clean up campaign and other civic organizations meet at 4 p m in the Amarillo Hotel to finalize plans for the city spring cleaning led by committee chairman John Mathis.
In Beaumont Texas Robert Cunningham, 70, a former sailor, is building a 12 foot boat in a 16 foot room on a boarding house floor. He says the project will take months and the method for removing the boat remains uncertain. County Agent Ernest Duke and Hugh Gouldy attend a three day AAA range program conference in Dalhart with K J Edwards and Mr Fewards accompanying. The article notes 1,6868,000 people used Colorado national forests for recreation last year, led by 981,000 picnickers.

In Claude the 47th District Court, Judge EF Nelson Jr. ended a 10 weeks term as the district’s juries were on a break. Judge W E Gee conducts a non-jury midweek in a nine week term. District Attorney Bob Underwood and assistant Jim Lumpkin moved among the Claude proceedings as Armstrong County grand jury met.
Copies of the Department of Agriculture farmers bulletin Preventing Soil Blowing are available at the County Agent Ernest Duke office. The pamphlets were sent complimentary by Congressman Marvin Jones.
An Amarillo man Robert Brown aged 23 had his vacation trip to Chicago halted in Pampa by Potter County officers at the request of local merchants who said he could not take mortgaged property out of state. Brown was charged with removing mortgaged property from the state but was stopped in Pampa after departing from a Santa Fe train. The property including five suits, two radios and luggage was held, while Brown was released on a $750 bond. A young Black woman on the same train was also taken into custody but released.
Luther Dooley a 60 year old escaped convict surrendered at Fort Worth police headquarters to be returned to an Oklahoma prison from which he escaped eight years ago He said he could not stand being hunted any longer and claimed to be a World War II veteran with 16 months overseas service.
New York police officer Patrick Conroy was killed when the German shepherd he was training leaped, knocking him and causing a discharged service revolver in his hand to fire. Conroy had demonstrated how the dog could disarm a gunman or throw a man during a routine display.
The American Legion will sponsor a benefit concert by the Albuquerque Junior Symphony Orchestra on April 19 to fund hot lunches for school children. Floyd Sloan announced the event, which will be held in the Amarillo high school auditorium as the group travels to Indianapolis for a national contest.
R H Buckelew of Quaker State Oil Refining Company visits the Panhandle territory with Woodrow Sherrill the district salesman. Buckelew is based in Houston.
County Treasurer L. D. Heyser seeks to retire several thousand dollars in warrants. Road and bridge fund warrants marked Fund No. Two can be exchanged for cashable checks, and other warrants up to No. D-2783 will be taken up. All warrants should be brought to the treasurer's office on the courthouse second floor.
An unknown condition linked to hay fever is said to cause belief that nothing helps. Mr R O Murphy of Box 403 Stillwater Minnesota offers to explain the condition free to anyone who writes with name and address.
