Hawks Glider Tow Cable Breaks Near Terre Haute

The tow cable parted between Capt. Frank Hawks glider Faedat and the tow plane near Terre Haute Indiana. Hawks forced to land four miles east of the city after taking off toward Indianapolis on the next leg of his transcontinental glider flight. He planned repairs and a later departure to Indianapolis, sending word to the delegation at Mars Hill airport. Hawks had landed at Terre Haute’s airport shortly before 10 o’clock after leaving East St. Louis earlier today.

Masked Bandits Loot Ohio Bank In Major Heist

Five masked gunmen robbed the Union Trust Co at Xenia Avenue Dayton taking most cash from the vault and counters. Two stayed outside in a car while three forced employees and customers to the floor. They escaped in a waiting car with an estimated 30 000 to 40 000. only 600 remained in a teller cage. The bank had been robbed four times earlier, with loot from 5 000 to 15 000 in prior incidents.
