Borger April 3 Hutchinson County grand jury reports no evidence of any Non-Virgin Club in Borger High School or the county. The panel condemns gossip and promises action against busybodies who spread rumors. The report, signed by foreman Martin Beasley, says articles in The Burger News-Herald on March 22 and 23 were baseless, distorted by repeated gossip, often tied to innocent incidents.

Authorities probe cause of a blazing trailer fire near Lubbock that melted the aluminum like exterior and killed three people including two Army Corps of Engineers officers from Reese Air Force Base. Lt. Charles Hahn and Lt. Ernest L. Schrock perished, along with Mrs. Hahn. Night attendant G. H. Lindsay found the fire around 5 am. Robert Lee Jones, 17, attempted entry but was thwarted by heat and smoke. Firefighters later reached the bodies after breaching the trailer walls.
William Leicher 22, a used car salesman, confessed to raping Esther Lohbato 12 after kidnapping her near a movie. Sheriff Carlos Sousa and assistant district attorney Brad Crittenden say charges of kidnapping and rape will be filed. Esther and her brother Ray 7 identified Leicher after a description led to his arrest 18 miles north of town.
The husband and wife team Bixbys Dianna and Bob, flying a twin engined Mosquito bomber, were forced to return to Calcutta due to engine trouble two hours after taking off from San Francisco to attempt a round the world flight, trailing by four hours against Bill Odom’s 1947 record.
MELROSE April 3 Special T H Pack 45 and Homer Austin 35 escaped injury or death when a Santa Fe freight train collided with the car they rode at the grade crossing on Melrose western city limits. The car was demolished.
Skagit County auditor relief after return of a refund check to Thomas B. Bolinger of Corpus Christi. A $100,000.75 check mailed for a car title transfer refund should have been 75 cents. authorities await proper correction to prevent future errors.
In Dayton on April 3 a funeral home operator reported a dead man in his service car and showed police a zipped rubber bag. Inside they found Aaron Talley, 40, only in his underwear, who asked where he was and was charged with intoxication. Magetti questions how Talley could fit into the bag, suspects a prank.
Donay described as vanished after renting a boat at Catalina Island harbor. He had bought gear including 10 feet of chain and 10 spools of soldering wire before leaving. Navy, Avalon police, and Coast Guard searched the area for Donay and the submerged craft with negative results. Krug, an escaped Nazi POW, is connected to the 1943 treason conviction that led to later life imprisonment.
The Amarillo area reports considerable high cloudiness and mild conditions today with a cooler trend tonight and Tuesday. It lists today 80 degrees high and 40 low, with 81 and 48 recorded for the 24 hour period. Panhandle outlook expects continued dryness, with partly cloudy skies and cooler conditions tonight and Tuesday. West Texas and New Mexico sections note partly cloudy weather, not as warm in the Panhandle, generally fair in southern New Mexico, and windy in the north portion.

Dunn for a report on a man leaving four billfolds in overalls later found and returned. A third prize recipient, Johnie Beard, reports a mysterious disk in the sky that could be a flying saucer. Additional tipsters listed include Quint Taylor, Hettie Mann, Jimmie May Pace, and others from several addresses and even an entry from Salzburg, Austria.
