Powerful New U S Carrier Coral Sea Christened at Newport News
Newport News Va April 3 The aircraft carrier Coral Sea, one of the three largest warships, was christened in her graving dock by Mrs. Thomas C. Kinkaid wife of the admiral who commands the Eastern Sea Frontier. The ship mirrors the Midway and Franklin D. Roosevelt in size with changes including an enclosed forward flight deck area to improve weather resistance.

Seven Civic Clubs Sponsor Choir Show in Amarillo
Seven Amarillo civic clubs sell 1400 tickets per show to benefit the High School A Cappella Choir April 10 and 11. Performances in the high school auditorium feature Seasonal Sensations with Julia Dean Evans directing the choir and Lela Crossett directing the program. Four seasons will be portrayed on stage while the choir sings from the orchestra pit. Portrayals include July 4 Christmas a Spring show and Halloween. Total tickets 2100 adults 700 students.
