Cermax death and slayer indictments headline the start of Amarillo’s Fat Stock Show day two. Judges begin today for the baby beef exhibit while the Queen’s Ball and free dances, auto show and Auto Follies entertain cattlemen and visitors. A second horse show and more dances follow as wives and friends are hosted.
A full day of events includes morning rabbit and beef judging at 8 to 9 AM, automobile exhibits opening at 10 AM, a noon luncheon at the Country Club, 3:30 PM auto follies, 4:30 PM horse show at the Fair Grounds, 7 PM breeders meeting and 4-H banquet at the Amarillo Hotel, and 8 PM auto follies with 9 PM Fat Stock Show amusements at the Amarillo Hotel Amusement Hall 206 Polk Street.
A luncheon at noon at Amarillo Country Club marks the Panhandle Hereford Breeders Association convention. The Amarillo Hotel hosts 7 pm events for 4-H Club leaders and a banquet for visiting youth. Entries and judging in livestock divisions proceed Monday morning with awards in the Fat Stock Show. Frances Mayhugh of Plainview arrives as Fat Stock Show queen.
Investigators failed to determine the blast cause at the Danciger Refinery as of March 6. A valve released hot fluid under pressure, killing Jap Bonner and C. F. Cook, both 26. Bonner's funeral was planned for Estelline and Cook's in Pampa tomorrow.
United States Senator James J. Davis of Pennsylvania had his trial on federal lottery charges postponed again. The delay cites his detention in New York would deprive Pennsylvania of representation during a national crisis.
Jehol is conquered by Japanese forces driving the Chinese back from Jehol City. A defense line 20 miles south of Koupeikow was formed. Reports place clashes at Hsifengkow Pass and near Weichang as Japan moves toward the Chihli Plain and threatens North China.
Washington March 6. Secretary of Agriculture Wallace offered Grover Hill of Amarillo the post of assistant administrator of the agricultural loan department. The office oversees distribution of 90 million dollars in crop loans under a bill by Con. Marvin Jones. Hill took the offer under advisement.
President Roosevelt on March 6 announced Rexford G. Tugwell of New York as assistant secretary of agriculture. Tugwell joins the department to aid agricultural policy and administration at a pivotal time.
Directors of the Livestock Exchange vote to keep the Kansas City yards open while protecting all interests. Commission firms proceed with sales and plan to return proceeds to shipper owners once buyer payments clear.
Earl Quinn’s second trial for the December 28, 1930, slayings of two Blackwell school teachers went to a jury in Enid Oklahoma as they retired at 7 PM amid fatigue and deferred deliberations until tomorrow morning.
In Washington about March 6, at least three injured and 20 arrested as police clashed with demonstrators marching for relief and racial equality. The protest, led by whites and blacks, sought $5 weekly relief and equal treatment. Roosevelt stated parades must not disrupt traffic and meant a parade, not street demonstrations.
Dr. Walter Ellis Sistrunk a 49 year old renowned surgeon from Dallas Texas was found dead in his New Orleans hotel room early tonight. He had formerly lived in New Orleans and was in the city for professional reasons.
A thrifty foreign born mother rented her baby to women in a New York savings bank line. Several times the infant carried real cash for each depositor as they hurried to withdraw funds, prompting the teller to realize the baby had been up at the window multiple times today.
In Miami, Giuseppe Zangara was indicted for first degree murder in the death of Chicago Mayor Anton J. Cermak after a gunshot wound. The grand jury returned two counts citing premeditated design to kill Roosevelt and Cermak. Arrraignment set for noon tomorrow. death by electrocution possible if convicted.
Panhandle gas land and royalty owners will meet at 3 o clock Tuesday afternoon in Amarillo to protest pending tax legislation at Austin. The conference will be held at the Amarillo Hotel and invites all gas producers land-owners and royalty holders to attend. A bill before the legislature would tax two cents per thousand feet of gas produced in the state, a rate opponents say rivals the price received and would seize many gas properties in the Panhandle. The current tax is 2 percent of the gross price received.

Greenville Texas March 6 Mrs Buren Benton aged about 23 died here today from injuries suffered December 8 in a Rockwall County automobile accident that left her paralyzed.
Texas lawmakers focused on banking problems and the Roosevelt moratorium through next Thursday. State banking commissioner James Shaw held conferences with experts but no decision. Senator Walter Woodul proposed authorizing employer scrip as payment. banks discussed clearing house scrip for depositors and merchants. The Senate considered relief for insurance policy holders during the emergency and a house bill to suspend penal statutes.
The 12 jurors for Paul Mitchell age 24 Amarillo were chosen in seventy second district court after a night session. Prosecutors indicate the death penalty will be sought for the robbery with firearms and the murder of Robert Tharp the grocery store manager. Clyde Shaffer was subpoenaed as a witness after a severance motion was overruled with testimony to begin Tuesday morning.
Miss Frances May Hugh of Plainview was crowned queen of the Amarillo Fat Stock Show in a Rainbow Pageant of Progress. Col. Erasmus Rockus Tack presided and urged a decree so subjects can cash their checks as Hal C. Worth staged the production. The ceremony featured Indian lore, living models, and a finale with Miss Carol Amacker in an American motif swing.
Roosevelt and aides seek a secure bank reopens with six permitted bank functions to ease the bankless citizenry. Functions include handling drafts, safe deposit access, making change, cashing treasury checks, postclosing deposits, and accepting payments on notes. Tyler March 6 Sheriff Price said R. B. r lin was arrested by Sheriff J. Smith of Terry County after being sought for the Arp bank robbery in February. Garland Addington, shot in the arm, held since capture and indicted. Buck Reyn arrested in Oklahoma and jailed as an accessory. Robbers stole 3000 dollars. 700 recovered from a car wreck. Franklin fled on foot after the crash.
