Leroy bins was given 25 years in the penitentiary after a jury found him guilty in the January slaying of his cousin Roscoe Jennings. The jury deliberated after hearing testimony that he was smoking marijuana and had pleaded temporary insanity.
In Socorro New Mexico on June 27 a bank robbery at Mountainair netted 3000 dollars. Sheriff Rex Meador said the bandits fled toward the Manzano Mountains leaving a sedan in an abandoned mine shaft near Tokay Carthage. Guards blocked roads as the search continued for the duo in a second vehicle.

T E Johnson chair of the local cany on park committee announces that a R F C loan from Washington will substantially boost federal and state efforts to develop a Major park in the Canyon. State park board filed the loan application earlier this year and forestry camps help clear title doubts while state and federal authorities work to resolve objections and finalize plans for six months of intensive Canyon development.
A coroner's jury in Tatum, New Mexico, ruled Lea County commissioner J. H. Simpson responsible for the fatal gunshot of Oscar Adams, a 53 year old cattleman. Evidence showed Adams and Dorris Hart were fighting in the street when Simpson intervened and fired. No charges filed. Simpson and Hart are jailed.
The Associated Press reports California and West Virginia voted for repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment. California’s returns show 173,031 for repeal to 76,041 against from 1,406 of 9,347 precincts, across 25 counties. West Virginia’s ballot from 1,504 of 2,538 precincts shows 161,431 for repeal to 91,475 against. The tally across states stands 16 to 0 in favor of repeal.

In Austin on June 27 Texas opened the repeal fight with rival conventions for and against national prohibition and 3.2 beer. Ferguson opposed Bailey’s faction and McDonald was chosen as temporary chair as Ferguson stepped aside to seek harmony. The two factions named separate delegate tickets for the August 26 state election and the November repeal convention. Biden Bailey of Dallas pressed anti-prohibition views as Ferguson faced off with Kirby, with supporters packing Gregory Memorial Stadium to back Ferguson.
New York June 27 Jim mie Mattern's Chicago backers asked Frank Hawks today to fly to Alaska in search for the round the world aviator but the noted speed pilot reached no immediate decision. Hawks and Texas Company officials took under advisement the request from Chicago sponsors Sackett Jamieson Mills and Clark.

Both sides named candidates to be voted on in a special election August 26. The repeal convention will convene November 24 to cast the state's repeal vote.
