Officials say Wheeler man Bobby Brown, 38, jumped in at Foss Lake to aid a man on an inner-tube during a Sunday evening incident. The man on the tube was not hurt. Brown disappeared and his body had not been recovered by Monday. officials expect a lengthy recovery period.
Aureilio Garcia a 19 year old migrant worker from Florida living in Plainview was indicted on capital murder charges for the death of 6 month old Alexander Hernandez. Autopsy shows blunt force trauma to head with prior strangulation marks. Bond set at 2 million. Police say Garcia claimed the infant was not breathing after a 911 call from Date Street Apartments. District Attorney Terry McEachern notes the case involved a grand jury two days before its scheduled meeting.
