Associated Press reports Roosevelt backers plan to remain in the Republican fold, seating 75 delegates and challenging fraudulent convention actions. Governor Stubbs of Kansas says no bolt, no compromise candidate, and Roosevelt would lead any potential third party if formed.
Associated Press reports from Chicago indicate former President Roosevelt would consider leaving the Republican Party and heading a new progressive party if popular demand supports him. A delegates caucus decided he would stay in the convention but abstain from voting, with a potential nomination if Roosevelt delegates are not seated. a decision on the nomination might come by Saturday.
Chicago dispatch reports that two Taft delegates from the Fifth Arkansas District were seated by the credentials committee. A motion to seat Roosevelt delegates failed 31 to 11.
Chicago June 20 AP Taft headquarters have practically suspended efforts to work among convention delegates as talk of compromise candidates circulates. Taft's leadership shows little heed to compromise chatter despite ongoing discussion at the General Convention Headquarters.
The Republican national committee rules were radically revised to permit summary removal of any member who bolts or refuses to support the party nominee. A direct primary plan for electing committee members was approved, while Roosevelt faction plans a minority report seeking southern representation limits and state control over election methods. The rules take effect once a committee is named by the convention.
Taft forces held firm as Chairman Root and officers kept their seats during two brief sessions of the Republican national convention. Chicago June 20 The Credentials Committee seated twenty two Taft delegates including twelve from Florida amid a split with Roosevelt allies over contested seats. Of seventy two contested delegates on Governor Hadley’s list the committee approved Alabama Ninth District Arkansas Fifth District Arizona at large and other cases with tense but orderly proceedings.
A young woman wrestled a rifle from Mor Hred’s father and fatally shot one assailant while another was wounded. Police say the confrontation occurred in a domestic dispute escalating to gunfire. The survivor is in custody for questioning.
In a Sharp Waldrop feud at Sperry’s ranch near Sherman Texas, four people were killed and two wounded. Miss Georgia Sharp killed one man and wounded another before she herself was killed. The battle began as the Sharps passed the Waldrops home and both sides opened fire.
The credential committee and delegates faced a day of shifting loyalties as Roosevelt supporters surged into the proceedings. Key figures like William Flinn left the regular Republican fold, California withdrew, and internal roars over delegate releases and permanent organization dominated the tense schedule. Roosevelt aides argued about bound delegates while police guarded the hall amid mounting crowds and forecasts of further action.
In Paris bankers from six powers including the United States reach a complete understanding to loan China 300 million. Russia today joins five other powers in acquiescing to the agreement.
A large rebel detachment moved toward Ortiz to harass Federals advancing north and to burn railroad bridges. In Bachimba a clash of troop trains left one dead and seven seriously injured including Colonel Castanda, chief of staff to Orozco.
H. P. Hughes, longtime general baggage agent for the Texas and Pacific, will retire July 1 after a 42 year career in railroad service. He spent much of his career with Texas and Pacific or Missouri Pacific, earlier serving as traveling passenger agent for the Gould lines in Texas while they were under one management. He lived in Denison during Katy Railway days and later returned to Fort Worth as a resident and as general baggage agent for the T and P.
St John June 20 voters across New Brunswick express preferences in a campaign seen as spirited. With J H Fleming leading the government and Hazen preceding him in office, the outcome could restore or reduce the governing party's strength as opposition targets finances and industry support.
Emporia Kansas reports the harvest season starting across a large area with experts predicting a bumper wheat crop likely to surpass last year. An estimated 25 000 extra workers will be needed to harvest the crop.

It also reports that the Pettigrew faction in South Dakota will contest the Johnson delegates there.
Richmond Virginia June 20 Hunter Pitzgerald the three legged boy from Blackstone Virginia has had the third limb amputated and is recovering in a local hospital. He underwent the operation after long suffering and had lived seventeen years with the deformity amid modest public notice.
Local forecast notes a fair and warmer day on Friday. Yesterday’s high reached 80 and the minimum 36, with a 1911 max of 83 and 1911 min of 82 performance values.
Associated Press reports from Washington on June 20 that West Texas will see generally fair weather Friday and Saturday with little change in conditions.
