Potter County to Build Livestock Pavilion with WPA Funds
Potter County Commissioners approved a $150,000 livestock and show pavilion at the Tri-State Fairgrounds funded 45 percent by the Public Works Administration and 55 percent by the county. The plan follows a June 19 1939 resolution from local business and livestock groups.

Bucharest June 19 Isidore Thal a 40 year old storekeeper in Sinaia broke the bank at the casino winning 35 cents to 7000 dollars in his first gambling attempt and then collapsed dead across the gaming table physicians attributed the death to excitement.

W F Scarborough 71 a noted oilman and rancher was wounded at his home in Kermit Winkler County. Sheriff Summers said his son Hollis Scarborough 41 was held for questioning after the shooting. The elder Scarborough underwent an operation and remained critical. He owned ranches in Winkler Loving and Andrews counties and Lea County New Mexico. His Scarborough oil pool in West Texas Permian Basin is famous. His brother Dr Lee Scarborough headed the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was en route to Los Angeles when he learned of the shooting.
