Wilda Dixon of Canadian was crowned Miss Lake Marvin Queen of the Canadian with thousands cheering. Jean Tomberlin of Amarillo placed second and won 15 dollars, Laura Louise Studer of Canadian third with 10 dollars, Mary Sue Spiller fourth with five dollars. Hugh Gold loving cup awarded by Capt. Tornado Rips Through Minneapolis Area Killing At Least 10
A severe tornado struck north and west of Minneapolis killing 10 and injuring 63. Ten victims are named from Minneapolis Anoka and Champlin including Anna Freeman James Bradley Ellen Freeman Fred Zimmerman and Emil S Johnson. Homes were demolished and a car was launched into the air killing occupants. The storm felled Grout’s house and hurled Zimmerman 175 yards as Detective Ed Ryan watched.
