Horatio Ark June 13 Henry Breneman Jr 23 of Paris drowned during a weekend outing at the Little River Country Club He was riding a raft in Little River when a swift current carried him away and he was not seen again.
William H. Parsons urges ransom note authors to communicate as federal and local investigators press a stalled case. The couple’s Russian friend Anna Kuprianova and her ex-husband Alex Kuprianoff are to be questioned anew while authorities renew cooperation after a period of quiet.
A light biplane crashed in Pasadena's Oak Knoll district killing three occupants. The plane registered to A. R. Montgomery of Glendale. Deceased were E. M. Patrick of Alhambra Fred Lobb of Pasadena and Frank Bannister of Monterey Park. Montgomery was not aboard. All died instantly.

In Johnstown Pennsylvania at Bethlehem Steel Cambria works a clash between about 25 pickets and 25 non-strikers left three non-strikers a picket and a policeman injured though none required medical care. Governor Farle called 75 state police to the scene as efforts to mediate the Cambria strike continued.
John L. Lewis announced a strike of 9,500 United Mine Workers in 17 captive mines owned by Bethlehem Steel and Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Notices were sent to resisting coal firms and members will not load that tonnage. All mines to close by Tuesday, with possible closures starting tomorrow morning.
Religious, state, and civil leaders gathered in Ellwood City Park to unveil a Texas Centennial Commission and Knights of Columbus monument honoring Fray Juan de Padilla. Bishop Robert F. Lucey blessed the memorial recalling Padilla as the first Christian martyr in the United States after establishing the Quivira mission in the Plains. The ceremony included a church procession and historical blessing.
